Arsenal hurrah at Henry hint

Thierry Henry has allayed fears that he may leave Arsenal FC by announcing his decision to remain with the English Premiership side next season.

Historical move
The 28-year-old France international's current contract expires in the summer of 2007, and recent speculation has linked him with a move to FC Barcelona. But Henry has quashed the rumours and indicated his desire to grace Arsenal's new stadium at Ashburton Grove when the north London club move there from Highbury, their home since 1913, at the end of this season. "The truth is I love this club and I've made my mind up to stay," he told British newspaper The Sun.

Arsenal legend
"I can say to all my fans and the people who care about me I want to lead the team out in the new stadium," he added. "I want to stay and we have to sort this [contract] out." Henry has thrived at Arsenal since joining from Juventus in August 1999. He broke Ian Wright's club goalscoring record of 185 earlier this season, and looks set to pass 200 after apparently shutting the door on any potential attempts to prise him away.

'Ridiculous speculation'
"There was a lot of ridiculous speculation," Henry continued. "But the truth is this, I never spoke with or met with a single person from any other club at any time. This will put an end to all the stories. We can move on."
