Rangers hamstrung by Kyrgiakos loss

Rangers FC defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos is doubtful for the forthcoming UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie against Villarreal CF after sustaining a hamstring injury.

Rodriguez chance
The Greece centre-back was substituted at half-time during last night’s 2-0 defeat at Aberdeen FC, and now seems certain to miss Sunday's game against Celtic FC at Ibrox. The extent of the damage is not yet known, but Rangers manager Alex McLeish will be grateful that he can call upon fit-again Julien Rodriguez following the French defender's recovery from ankle ligament damage suffered in November.

Villarreal test
Kyrgiakos seemingly faces a race against time to be fit for the visit of Villarreal on 22 February. The second leg takes place at El Madrigal two weeks later.
