Poláček opts for Mladá Boleslav

FK Mladá Boleslav have completed the biggest signing of the summer so far in the Czech Republic by paying AC Sparta Praha a €700,000 fee for Tomáš Poláček.

FK Mladá Boleslav have completed the most expensive transfer of the summer so far in the Czech Republic by signing midfielder Tomáš Poláček from AC Sparta Praha for €700,000.

Fresh chance
The 25-year-old has joined Mladá Boleslav on a four-year deal in time to be registered for the first leg of the club's UEFA Champions League second qualifying round tie against Norwegian champions Vålerenga IF on Wednesday. The left-footed player started out at SK Slavia Praha, before moving to FK Siad Most whom he helped win promotion to the top flight in 2005. He switched to Sparta last September, appearing in all six of his side's UEFA Champions League group games, but fell out of favour in the new year and was glad of the chance to revive his career at Mladá Boleslav.

New faces
Mladá Boleslav, who will be playing their first European match next week after a surprise second-placed finish in the Czech Liga last term, have also recruited striker Petr Mikolanda from West Ham United FC, defender Jan Riegel from FK Marila Příbram, and midfielder Martin Abrahám from champions FC Slovan Liberec.
