"He has his place in the history of our side," said Claude Puel, coach of the UEFA Champions League hopefuls, as he confirmed the end of Ačimovič's three-year stay in northern France yesterday. Ačimovič, 29, scored Lille's winning goal against Manchester United in their sole success in last season’s Champions League group stage, but has not played since mid-January because of an ankle injury.
