Reinhardt injury hurts Hamburg

Hamburger SV could be without Bastian Reinhardt for most of October after the central defender picked up a thigh muscle injury at the weekend.

Hamburger SV coach Thomas Doll's problems intensified on Saturday with the news that he will be without Bastian Reinhardt for most of October after the central defender picked up a thigh muscle injury during Saturday's 2-2 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Three weeks out
The 30-year-old was taken off after 39 minutes and is now expected to be out of action for the next three weeks, ruling him out of Hamburg's next UEFA Champions League Group G game, away against FC Porto on 17 October. Doll is also waiting for news on the fitness of striker José Paolo Guerrero who also picked up a knock against Frankfurt, though it is not thought to be serious.

European woes
Hamburg slipped into the relegation places after drawing on Saturday and are yet to win in the league this season. They are also still looking for their first point in the UEFA Champions League after defeats against Arsenal FC and PFC CSKA Moskva in their opening two matches.
