Fletcher and Saha out for United

Manchester United FC midfielder Darren Fletcher will be out for two months with ankle ligament damage while striker Louis Saha has a hamstring problem.

Manchester United FC will be without Darren Fletcher for two months after a scan revealed that the Scottish international midfielder has sustained ankle ligament damage.

Ferguson confirmation
Speaking ahead of the UEFA Champions League first knockout round second-leg match against LOSC Lille Métropole, United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said: "We have had some bad news on Darren Fletcher who looks like he will be out for two months. Darren has an ankle ligament injury and got it against Reading [FC] last week. We thought it would be two weeks but we did a scan yesterday and the news wasn't good."

Scotland blow
As well as missing crucial games in United's bid for UEFA Champions League, English Premiership and FA Cup success, the 23-year-old Fletcher will sit out Scotland's UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifiers against Georgia and Italy later this month. Meanwhile, French international striker Louis Saha, 28, has been ruled out of the Lille tie with a hamstring injury and a scan on Wednesday showed an injury from which he will need a month to recover.
