Cruel twist for Toulouse captain

Captain Dominique Arribagé will miss the start of Toulouse FC's UEFA Champions League campaign after twisting his left knee during a friendly game on Friday.

The 36-year-old central defender was carried off after just five minutes of a 1-0 defeat against Greek side FC Aris Thessaloniki in Tarbes having collided awkwardly with team-mate Fabinho. "From initial reports I have damaged internal ligaments but to be honest I thought it could have been a lot more serious considering how the blow came about," he said. The player is now unlikely to be available as Toulouse make their competition debut in the third qualifying round in August. "I will have medical tests on Monday but I'm out for a month and a half at last," the towering defender said.
