Zicu out until new year at Dinamo

FC Dinamo 1948 Bucuresti have lost Ianis Zicu to a knee ligament injury for the next six months, ruling the Romanian international out of the UEFA Champions League group stage should they progress.

Surgery needed
The 23-year-old forward was injured in the opening minutes of Dinamo's 1-1 draw at S.S. Lazio in the third qualifying round on Tuesday night. Zicu has suffered ligament damage in his right knee and will have surgery in Belgium later this week. With defender Cosmin Moti another long-term casualty, Dinamo are also concerned about the fitness of Vasile Nastase (thigh) who may not return to training until next week. Centre-back Lucian Goian, meanwhile, will be suspended for Lazio's visit to Bucharest on 28 August after being sent off in Rome.
