Sevilla FC forward Ernesto Chevantón faces a four-week lay-off after tests revealed he needs surgery to end persistent knee problems.

Disappointing period
The 27-year-old has been struggling with meniscus damage to his left knee since sustaining a sprain against CA Osasuna on 26 January. The Uruguayan international underwent an extensive examination on Friday and doctors have decided to operate – ruling Chevantón out until mid-March. It is the latest setback in a disappointing campaign for the player, who has been limited to one goal in eight Spanish league outings.
