We saw the tie out well. I rested some players as we were looking towards the game with Arsenal [FC] on Sunday. You couldn't have a better opportunity to rest players than with a 2-0 lead, and those who came in showed their worth. [Ji-Sung] Park and Carlos Tévez were two of the best players and [Owen] Hargreaves was probably the man of the match. We trust in our squad. It tells me that these players can play in any sort of game. We now have a most attractive semi-final to look forward to. Hopefully we'll be at full strength. We're carrying a lot of injuries but by the time we face them, we should have more players available and that will give us a better chance. We've had some memorable matches against Barcelona in the past – we drew twice in the group stages in the year we won [the UEFA Champions League]. Those two games were unbelievable – they showed what attacking football is all about. I certainly think we are in much better shape now than we were against AC Milan this time last year, and if we can continue to show the same energy as we have shown recently and keep this momentum going, we can get through.

Perhaps we didn't frighten Manchester United tonight but we put in a good performance. We had to take one or two risks. We knew we would create some chances but unfortunately, as with the penalty miss, we couldn't capitalise on them. Had we done so, it would have changed the course of the match. But having said that, we must concede that over the two legs United were better than us and deserved their victory. Of course we missed Francesco Totti very much. Anyone would like to have him in their team. He plays a crucial role for us and is vital to the way we play. But to get to this level, a team has to be able to overcome the absence of important players. We put in a good performance and we're proud of that, but if you look at the track record and the history, Roma aren't at the same level as United. I believe United are well-equipped to win the tournament. They have the potential to do so both collectively and individually. We saw this evening that whoever plays for them, they are a strong team.
