Central-back Roman Sharonov is a doubt for FC Rubin Kazan's pivotal UEFA Champions League trip to FC Internazionale Milano on 9 December with a knee injury sustained during Tuesday's goalless draw with FC Dynamo Kyiv.
Scan pending
The 33-year-old, who has featured in all Rubin's Group F games, damaged the lateral ligament in his right knee in the early stages of the second half and was replaced by Vitali Kaleshin after 53 minutes. "Initial reports point to a lateral knee ligament injury, though more detailed information will be available after the scan," said Sharonov, who will definitely miss the Russian champions' final Premier-Liga match of the season on Sunday. "I would hardly be able to play against Inter."
Tight section
Rubin lie third in Group F, level on points with second-placed Inter, and need to win at San Siro to be certain of qualifying. A draw other than 0-0 or 1-1 would also be enough if Dynamo fail to defeat FC Barcelona.
