Govou off the list for København game

Sidney Govou will miss Panathinaikos FC's Group D game against FC København with a thigh strain, which is also likely to rule him out of France's next UEFA EURO 2012 qualifiers.

Panathinaikos FC are resigned to being without Sidney Govou for Wednesday's UEFA Champions League Group D game at home against FC København after the French international forward strained a thigh muscle in training.

The 31-year-old, a summer signing from Olympique Lyonnais, picked up the injury in a workout on Sunday, with the Athens side expecting him to be out of the running for a first-team place for around 15 days. He will thus miss the Danish champions' visit to Greece and is unlikely to be able to play for France when they meet Romania and Luxembourg in their upcoming UEFA EURO 2012 qualifiers, on 9 and 12 October. Govou opened the scoring at Camp Nou on Matchday 1, but Panathinaikos went on to lose 5-1 against FC Barcelona.
