AFC Ajax midfielder Siem de Jong is expected to miss his side's UEFA Champions League Group G game at home to AJ Auxerre on 19 October because of a hamstring injury.

The 21-year-old, who has played in both of Ajax's group matches against Real Madrid CF and AC Milan, sustained a slight tear to his right hamstring during training with the Netherlands Under-21s on Tuesday. According to Ajax he faces between two and four weeks on the sidelines.

De Jong will almost certainly sit out the visit of Auxerre but could return for the corresponding fixture in France on 3 November. Ajax are third in the section with a single point from two games after drawing 1-1 with Milan in their last outing on 28 September.
