Spartak's Alex to miss Chelsea date

FC Spartak Moskva will be without influential playmaker Alex for up to two weeks after the midfielder suffered a thigh injury in Friday's victory against FC Alania Vladikavkaz.

FC Spartak Moskva playmaker Alex will miss his team's UEFA Champions League encounter at home against Chelsea FC on Tuesday after tearing a muscle in his right thigh.

The Brazilian international midfielder suffered the injury during Spartak's 3-0 Russian Premier League win against FC Alania Vladikavkaz on Friday and is expected to be out for up to two weeks. The 28-year-old will therefore be unavailable for the meeting with the only other side in Group F boasting a perfect record and is also a doubt for the vital league visit of unbeaten leaders FC Zenit St. Petersburg on 27 October.
