Keeper Alves replaces César Sánchez at Valencia

Diego Alves said it was a "dream" to join UEFA Champions League-bound Valencia CF after the Brazilian goalkeeper moved from relegated UD Almería to replace César Sánchez.

Valencia CF have confirmed the signing of Brazilian goalkeeper Diego Alves on a contract until 2015.

The 25-year-old departs relegated UD Almería, the club he joined in 2007, for a team assured of UEFA Champions League football after coming third in the Liga. He is earmarked as a replacement for César Sánchez, 40, who is moving to Villarreal CF.

Alves said: "It is a dream to be at Valencia. It is a team that are going to play in the Champions League. I'm looking forward to working again with Unai Emery, who was my coach at Almería."

Former Real Madrid CF and Tottenham Hotspur FC keeper Sánchez, who moved to Valencia in January 2009, said: "I am leaving behind a great professional and personal experience. I want to thank everybody at Valencia and I wish the best to the team."
