SSC Napoli have reached an agreement to sign Bologna FC's Uruguayan central defender Miguel Britos for an undisclosed fee.

The left-footed 25-year-old joined Bologna from Montevideo Wanderers FC in 2008, and has since made 70 Serie A appearances, scoring four times. As part of the deal, Napoli's versatile 23-year-old defender Luigi Vitale has moved in the opposite direction.

Britos becomes the Azzurri's fifth summer signing following the arrival of midfielders Marco Donadel, Blerim Džemaili and Gökhan Inler, as well as goalkeeper Antonio Rosati. Napoli will play in the UEFA Champions League group stage after finishing third in Serie A last term.
