SSC Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri has been banned from "carrying out his function" for the two UEFA Champions League round of 16 matches against Chelsea FC, on 21 February in Italy and 14 March in England, following a decision by the UEFA Appeals Body.

The Appeals Body has rejected an appeal by Mazzarri against the two-match suspension handed down by the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body in January for improper conduct at the UEFA Champions League Group A game against Villarreal CF in Spain on 7 December.

A cross-appeal by UEFA's disciplinary inspector was partially admitted. Consequently, Mazzarri is now banned for three UEFA competition matches, with enforcement of the third game suspended for a probationary period of two years.
