Theo Walcott has ended speculation about his future by signing a new long-term contract with Arsenal FC.

The England forward's previous terms were due to expire at the end of this season, but the 23-year-old will now remain with the north London club for the foreseeable future. The Gunners have not disclosed the duration of the deal, although reports have suggested it may be of three and a half years in length.

Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger said: "We are all delighted that Theo has signed a new contract. He joined us as a 16-year-old and since then has developed very well to become an extremely important player for both Arsenal and England."

Walcott, who joined Arsenal from Southampton FC in January 2006 and is the club's top scorer this term with 14 goals in all competitions, added: "I have made it clear from the start that I wanted to stay at Arsenal so I am pleased we have agreed a deal that everyone is happy with."
