Jens Keller, Schalke coach
This victory has given us an ideal start to our UEFA Champions League season. I'm extremely happy about the fact we've kept our third consecutive clean sheet. The team is a well-functioning unit. We got off to a decent start, remained patient and created a number of chances. But then we suddenly backed off and weren't as energetic any more. We allowed our opponent to get into the game during this phase of the game.

Right after half-time we also lacked presence but, overall, we comfortably secured victory and the three points today. There was certainly some luck involved when we scored the opener, but sometimes that's exactly what you need to break the deadlock. Kevin-Prince [Boateng] does not shy away easily. He always makes himself available and demands the ball. He leads the team verbally and it's clear he has already become a very important player in this team.

Laurențiu Reghecampf, Steaua coach
We have to learn from these mistakes. We had to score before they did. We played very well, we created several goalscoring opportunities, but they scored with their first one. This happens in football when you make simple mistakes. It doesn't matter who made the mistake for the first goal – we all made mistakes and we all have to look forward now. It is very important to win the next match. Nothing has changed, and we can beat Schalke in Bucharest, but obviously it's not a nice night for us.
