Group E
Liverpool equalled the record away margin of victory in a UEFA Champions League game as they claimed their first group win after two draws. Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino both struck twice.
Spartak are level with Liverpool on five points, one above Sevilla, after notching their first UEFA Champions League win for nearly five years. Quincy Promes opened the scoring on 18 minutes from a swift counterattack, and although Simon Kjær headed an equaliser on the half-hour, substitute Lorenzo Melgarejo, Denis Glushakov, Luiz Adriano and Promes won it for Spartak after half-time.
Group F
City could potentially qualify if they win at Napoli on 1 November after this hard-fought victory kept their 100% record. The in-form English leaders seemed to be cruising to maximum points when Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jeses put them two up on 13 minutes, and even more so when Ederson saved a Dries Martens penalty late in the first half. But Napoli kept pressing and a second spot kick was converted by Amadou Diawara with 17 minutes left, though City held on.
Feyenoord 1-2 Shakhtar Donetsk
Shakhtar came from behind to stay within three points of City and condemn Feyenoord to a third defeat. Bernard was the visitors' hero with goals on 24 and 54 minutes after Steven Berghuis had nodded Feyenoord in front.
Group G
Beşiktaş made it three wins out of three in the group thanks to goals either side of half-time by Cenk Tosun. Radamel Falcao had given Monaco a 30th-minute head start but that lasted all of four minutes and they still have just one point.
Leipzig leapfrogged Porto into second, five points behind Beşiktaş, as they registered a first-ever UEFA competition victory. In an extraordinary first half, Leipzig had an early lead cancelled out before – in the last seven minutes before half-time – Emil Forsberg and Jean-Kévin Augustin struck for the hosts and Iván Marcano pulled one back.
Group H
Real Madrid 1-1 Tottenham Hotspur
Both teams had maximum points at kick-off but had to settle for a draw after Raphaël Varane's own goal under heavy pressure from Harry Kane was matched in the 43rd minute by a Cristiano Ronaldo penalty, his 110th UEFA Champions League strike. Hugo Lloris performed excellently in the Tottenham goal to deny Madrid a win.
These two remain six points adrift of the top two after finally getting off the mark. APOEL lost Igor De Camargo and goalkeeper Boy Waterman to first-half injuries but went ahead on 62 minutes through De Camargo's replacement Mickaël Poté. Sokratis Papastathopoulos equalised five minutes later.
