Facial injury puts Ignashevich in doubt

Defender Sergei Ignashevich may miss Russia's final UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifiers and UEFA Champions League ties with PFC CSKA Moskva after fracturing his cheekbone.

Central defender Sergei Ignashevich may miss Russia's remaining UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifiers and UEFA Champions League ties with PFC CSKA Moskva after fracturing his cheekbone.

Question mark
The CSKA Moskva captain received an elbow to the face in the Army Men's 2-1 Russian Cup quarter-final win against FC Spartak Nalchik on Wednesday, with subsequent tests revealing a hairline crack in his cheekbone. CSKA have yet to decide how long he will be out for, but he is a major doubt for their UEFA Champions League Group G meetings with FC Internazionale Milano and PSV Eindhoven, on 7 and 27 November, as well as Russia's crucial games in Israel and Andorra in the middle of this month. Wins in both of those Group E matches would guarantee Russia's place at UEFA EURO 2008™. CSKA have collected just one point from their first three outings in Group G.
