Borussia Dortmund will be without Marco Reus for four weeks after the attacking midfielder damaged ankle ligaments during Germany's 2-1 UEFA EURO 2016 qualifying victory against Scotland.

The 25-year-old is certain to miss BVB's UEFA Champions League Group D opener against Arsenal FC on 16 September and is likely to still be sidelined by the 1 October trip to RSC Anderlecht after going down under a challenge late in Sunday's match.

After the Group D qualifier, Germany coach Joachim Löw had said: "We don't know for definite yet, but it doesn't seem as bad as first feared. We shall have to see what the tests show." However, after being assessed by Dortmund team doctor Markus Braun, the club have estimated a month's absence.

It is a further injury blow for Reus, who sat out Germany's triumphant FIFA World Cup campaign due to another ankle problem.
