Piqué and Mascherano on Barcelona's win

Victory in Berlin brought a third UEFA Champions League title for Gerard Piqué and a second for Javier Mascherano, yet both were as thrilled as if it were their first.

Where the final was won
Gerard Piqué:
We struggled a bit when Juve made it 1-1, but our season has been like that; we've learned to suffer at certain moments. The counterattack has given us a lot. It’s easy with three players who are so fast and with such quality up front. You give them the ball and they just create goal opportunities.

Emotions after another European triumph
Piqué: It's unique, amazing. It's been a tough season, but the end has been impressive – with the good run we've had in the last few months, and a calendar so difficult that we've had to beat the Italian champions, the German champions, the French champions and the English champions. We are the best, as we've shown both with our results and style of play. We're very happy. Now it's time to celebrate.

Javier Mascherano: Tonight I feel a participant in the history of this great club and that makes me very proud. We made mistakes tonight, it was not our best game, but we're not going to analyse that now. Now it's time to celebrate the fact that Barcelona have won a fifth European Cup.

Barcelona's season
Piqué: Nobody could imagine that we would win a treble this season. We are here tonight, and that's because we have done things the right way. When you wear this shirt, you have to stay at a good level every year. With this generation of players, you have to try to win every trophy, every year, and put Barcelona at the very top.

What victory means for Barcelona
Piqué: We are part of the family that is FC Barcelona, which is wonderful. We're part of a club that despite playing well earned nothing years ago, but now this has changed thanks to a generation of unique players with an innate talent, and we hope it lasts for years. We'll try to bring the club many trophies. We're enjoying it more than ever. This is the Champions League title I have enjoyed the most, maybe because a few years have passed since the last time we won it.

Mascherano: It's a great reason to celebrate, having also won another historic treble. There will be time to discuss things that we probably got wrong, but, well, the cup goes home. It's my first treble and I feel I'm a small part of the history of this team and this club.
