Chelsea capture Argentinian prodigy

Chelsea FC have made their third signing of the January transfer window, paying Chilean club Audax Italiano a fee reported to be in excess of €4m for teenage striker Franco Di Santo.

Long-term deal
The 18-year-old, who has represented Argentina at Under-20 level, has accepted a four-and-a-half year contract at Stamford Bridge after Chelsea beat off strong competition from a number of clubs for his signature. He becomes Avram Grant's third recruit this month, following the arrivals of striker Nicolas Anelka – from Bolton Wanderers FC – and FC Lokomotiv Moskva and Serbia defender Branislav Ivanović. Di Santo scored 13 goals in 55 league games for Audax Italiano.
