Medial damage
The Romanian left winger damaged the medial ligaments in his right knee during Ajax's 1-0 friendly defeat against Argentina's CA Boca Juniors in the Amsterdam Tournament on Sunday. He is now expected to be out of action for the next four weeks.

European break
The injury will mean Mitea will miss Ajax's UEFA Champions League third qualifying round tie against the winner of the second round tie between FC Dinamo Tbilisi and Brøndby IF, which concludes tonight. He will also miss the start of the Eredivisie season.

Tournament woes
The Amsterdam Tournament has taken its toll on Ajax players. Goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg has been ruled out for two to three months because of a shoulder injury sustained in the friendly competition, while defender Hatem Trabelsi is out for a week because of concussion.
