Carlo Ancelotti: "15 wins in a row is a great achievement for the club"
Next games: Liverpool v Basel, Madrid v Ludogorets (9 December)

Paulo Sousa, Basel coach
I'm proud of the players, the team and the fans. It was fantastic how we were supported this evening, with such enthusiasm – I would like it to always be like that. We deserved more. The players are increasingly taking on board my ideas. You can see that we can compete better and better with big teams. The team's belief in our ideas is growing, you could see that in the second half.

Fabian Schär, Basel defender
We could have got more out of it. It was an evenly fought contest from which we deserved a point. We were only lacking a goal. But we're still second in the group, and with a point against Liverpool we'll go through. From that point of view, nothing has changed.

Bale joy at 'professional' Madrid

Gareth Bale, Madrid midfielder
The most important thing was the three points. We knew it was a difficult place to come and win. But we were professional about it and racked up another win. We want to finish top of everything. We came into the game with our usual mentality. We went out to win.

Basel are still battling to qualify, still fighting. You have seen teams come here and struggle. They made life difficult for us, but thankfully we got the win. I think we're looking good at the moment. But the most important thing is to not get carried away, take each game as it comes, and try and perform the best we can.

Carlo Ancelotti, Madrid coach
We didn't play to our usual level, we were slower than usual. But we defended well and controlled the game. That we have put together a run of 15 wins is a great achievement for the club. Basel played well, impressively, with a lot of heart. It wasn't easy to win here.

Basel can certainly compete in Liverpool. They are physically strong, like to play well and are well-organised. Though it is always difficult at Anfield, I see Basel having a slight advantage against Liverpool.

Toni Kroos, Madrid midfielder
We expected it to be a hard game and it was. Basel pressed us early on and made things difficult for us. They might have got a draw. We have big ambitions and we want to be Liga champions, that is our biggest objective. In the knockout stages, anything is always possible.
