We were in control of the game and overall we were never really under threat. Maybe sometimes we were missing that cutting edge to finish off the game early on, but we felt so much in control we knew that would come. It came a little bit late for my taste but I'm happy it came. I like Jack Wilshere's first goal. He is starting to think 'whatever [Aaron] Ramsey can do, I can too'. He's calm in front of goal.

We have to finish the job. It's a tricky situation because you think you just do not have to lose big, but that is a dangerous thing to put into our heads. Marseille have to play Dortmund in the last game.

Marseille played well. They had some young players out there who were looking for experience and that would have been good for them tonight. He [Wilshere] played on the right quite a lot as a young boy. He's free to come inside and he does that in an intelligent way. Sometimes you can find more freedom that way than if you play in the centre.

Élie Baup, Marseille coach
We know that the demands at this level are very high. Of course, when you give yourself a problem by conceding a goal in the first minute, the first half becomes very difficult. In the second half we showed a little more imagination in our play, but over the two games they were much better than us.

There are a lot of young players in our side and they were only playing for the first or second time in this competition. So you have to analyse this and show them how they can improve. There are some good players in our team, but some are 18 or 19, so they have to learn. That said, some of our players showed that we can count on them this evening.

When you come up against a team with the ability that Arsenal possess you need to roll up your sleeves and have a good goalkeeper, and that was the case. In the first game we played a good hour against Arsenal, but tonight we were a bit better in the second half than in the first.
