Rangers appeal Rae ban

Rangers FC are to appeal against the five-match suspension handed down to midfield player Alex Rae.

Video evidence
The 34-year-old Scottish international was charged with gross unsporting conduct after the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body viewed a tape of his challenge on PFC CSKA Moskva's Serguei Dadu during the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round first-leg tie in the Russian capital on 10 August.

Return match
The Scottish club announced that a delegation would represent Rae at the UEFA Appeals Body hearing next Monday, two days before the second leg is played at Ibrox stadium in Glasgow with CSKA leading 2-1. In the hearing UEFA will be represented by its disciplinary inspector, who was responsible for the player's initial charge for gross unsporting conduct.
