FC Zenit St Petersburg have suffered an injury blow with the news that Domenico Criscito will miss their UEFA Champions League home encounter with Málaga CF on 21 November. The Italy defender limped out of their 2-1 win at FC Volga Nizhny Novgorod on Sunday complaining of a knee problem and is now set for a two-week lay-off. The Russian champions are bottom of Group C after taking three points from four games.

Chelsea FC captain John Terry suffered "no significant damage" to his right knee in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Liverpool FC. The 31-year-old is expected to be out "for weeks rather than months" after having a scan on suspected ligament damage on Monday amid fears he faced a lengthy spell out of action. Chelsea's medical team will conduct further tests over the next two or three days once the swelling has subsided to determine how long he will be out.

FC Bayern München
striker Mario Gomez will step up his comeback from injury tonight when he lines up for a friendly against sixth division side FC Falke Markt Schwaben.

The 27-year-old has not played since UEFA EURO 2012 having undergone surgery on his ankle on 7 August – initially expected to be out for "a couple of weeks", he has not played since.

"The injury was no joke, it was serious," said Gomez, who scored 41 goals in 51 games for club and country last season.

UEFA.com Spanish newsdesk:
Valencia CF's João Pereira and Fernando Gago have emerged as doubts for their team's UEFA Champions League encounter at home to FC Bayern München next Tuesday. Portugal full-back Pereira was withdrawn from the Valencia squad to face Real Valladolid CF last weekend after suffering a small tear in his right calf, while Gago strained a left calf muscle during the 1-1 draw. Both players are scheduled to undergo further tests to examine the extent of their respective knocks.

UEFA.com Germany newsdesk:
Mario Gomez marked his return to action with four goals in FC Bayern München's 6-0 friendly victory against sixth division side FC Falke Markt Schwaben on Tuesday night. The Germany striker, who could feature in Jupp Heynckes' squad for Bayern's trip to 1. FC Nürnberg on Saturday, spoke modestly about his goalscoring feat. "It's not like I've been away for years," he said. "It was an easy game tonight and to score four goals is not such a great achievement."
