Rémy proud as gutsy Marseille hold Arsenal

Loïc Rémy told UEFA.com his side's 0-0 draw at Arsenal FC left Olympique de Marseille with "a sense of duty being fulfilled, even if we didn't win", with the hosts pleased to stay top of Group F.

Striker Loïc Rémy told UEFA.com that Olympique de Marseille had showed their mettle in earning a 0-0 UEFA Champions League Group F draw at Arsenal FC, but the Londoners' defender Carl Jenkinson told our correspondent that a point against a "dangerous" French side was no disgrace.

After the match we were really delighted; there was a sense of duty being fulfilled, even if we did not win

I think you have got to take the positives. Obviously, Marseille are a good side and we have not lost – 0-0 is not a bad result

Loïc Rémy, Marseille striker
After the match we were really delighted; there was a sense of duty being fulfilled, even if we did not win. We really put a lot into the game and were focused on the technical side, even though a quite few passes went astray. You could really sense that we wanted to do well – and I think that was reflected in the number of chances we created, which bodes well for the future. The only regret is that we were not able to take them, because we could really have hurt Arsenal in the first half.

I do not think they expected to come up against a Marseille side with such a cutting edge. For us, the challenge now is to continue like this and qualify for the next round. Tonight, we earned a really good point and there is a sense of satisfaction at having done that. I think the coach is happy with our performance.

Mathieu Valbuena, Marseille midfielder
I think we saw a really good Marseille tonight, defensively but also in attack where we created some chances. It is a shame we could not take them and there are a few regrets on that score, but we are not going to complain. It was a good point to have taken. We were dangerous at times and we were solid defensively. I said it often in the changing rooms – why can't we put in performances like that in Ligue 1? It was not just any team we were playing, it was Arsenal. Now we have to play like that against OGC Nice [on Sunday]. We got back to what we used to be – a team that knows how to play good football, that enjoys its football and where people fight for each other.

Carl Jenkinson, Arsenal defender
Marseille surprised us a little bit, I think. The full-backs were trying to get forward and at times they were leaving three up top, so they had not just come here to sit back. Fair play to them, they went for it and I think they have done well.

But defensively we were solid and although they did break a few times they did not really have many clear-cut opportunities. So defensively it was a good display by us and I think we will build on that now. I think you have got to take the positives. Obviously, Marseille are a good side and we have not lost – 0-0 is not a bad result. So, in my eyes, the glass is half full. At the end of the day, we have kept our unbeaten run going.

Wojciech Szczęsny, Arsenal goalkeeper
I would like to have won 1-0, but if you had told me before the two games against Marseille that we were going to get four points and not concede, I would have taken it, so I am pleased with the result. It is always tough in the Champions League because you play against top, top opponents, but I am confident we can get the results and qualify for the next stage.

We kept a clean sheet, which is all you can ask of a back four. They did well today but I've been training with them for a long time and I see the qualities. We looked really solid today; the spirit is really positive in the team. We are very confident going into every single game. There were some tired legs but you expect that. It is hard to play a big game every three days. And at the moment, every game for us is massive.
