Gaël Danic, 31, could get a first taste of UEFA Champions League action this season after joining Olympique Lyonnais from Valenciennes FC in a deal that could rise to €1m.

Olympique Lyonnais have confirmed the capture of experienced midfielder Gaël Danic from Valenciennes FC in a deal that could rise to €1m.

The 31-year-old will finalise a contract this week that ties him to Lyon until summer 2015. Among Ligue 1's most experienced players with 370 appearances under his belt, Danic caught the eye last term after providing 11 goal assists in the French top flight, a tally bettered only by two men, despite sitting out two months with a broken arm. He previously had spells with Stade Rennais FC, ES Troyes AC and FC Lorient.
