Ibrahimović keeping perspective after PSG win

Two-goal Zlatan Ibrahimović stressed that Paris Saint-Germain FC are "not losing our heads" after easing to a 3-0 win against SL Benfica, for whom Enzo Pérez rued a lack of focus.

Two-goal forward Zlatan Ibrahimović was quick to introduce a note of calm after helping Paris Saint-Germain FC take charge of Group C with an emphatic 3-0 victory against SL Benfica.

While the Parc des Princes faithful savoured a telling first-half display, the Swedish international stressed that he and his colleagues are "not losing our heads and thinking too far ahead". Benfica midfielder Enzo Pérez noted that his side "paid the price for not starting the game focused enough", meanwhile, and defender Guilherme Siqueira urged the Portuguese giants to bounce back against Olympiacos FC on 23 October.

Zlatan Ibrahimović, PSG forward
It feels very good. We played a good game and today I was lucky to score two goals, but the team did well and that's the most important thing. The individual part comes second; when the team is doing well it's easier [for me] to play. Today I think we kept at a high level; we worked a lot, we ran a lot and we won the game.

This gives us a lot of confidence, but we're not losing our heads and thinking too far ahead. The next game is Anderlecht and we're still in the group [stage]. We've played two games, we've won two games. The door is open now to qualify for the next round, but we're still in the group with difficult games to play and we don't underestimate anybody. This was just a game we played for the group; we took three points today, so the next game will be even more difficult.

Blaise Matuidi, PSG midfielder
It was a good victory with everything – attractive play, goals and a clean sheet. We made it easy for ourselves; it wasn't easy right at the start, but the way we began allowed us to get going and play the way we wanted. If we can win our third match, that will be a big step towards qualification.

We mustn't worry about what other teams will think of this result. We have to think of ourselves. We showed that we have a very good team and that's important for confidence. It's true that we knew we were in a group where everyone expected big things of us, and we've lived up to that so far.

Enzo Pérez, Benfica midfielder
We paid the price for not starting the game focused enough against a strong team like PSG, with very good players. We knew it wouldn't be easy, but in the second half we played a little better. Now we have to look forward and do better in the next matches.

We are not a worse team than we were last season [when Benfica reached the UEFA Europa League final] – the players are the same. We have to work to do better, but I don't thing we are in a bad period because the fact is that we won the first game in this group stage.

Guilherme Siqueira, Benfica defender
We knew it was going to be a very difficult game here against PSG, but our team is united. Everything remains open for us in the group and we have to keep our heads up and look forward. We have to win our next match [against Olympiacos], at home, to keep fighting to reach the next round. We know what we can do and we are here to go to the last 16. We didn't win this match, so we have to start thinking about winning the next one.
