Ricksen faces three weeks out

Rangers FC defender Fernando Ricksen could miss next month's visit to Panathinaikos FC with a head injury.
Rangers FC are likely to be without defender Fernando Ricksen for the next three weeks following his clash of heads with team-mate Henning Berg during last night's UEFA Champions League match against VfB Stuttgart.

Five stitches
Ricksen spent the night in Glasgow's Southern General hospital after the incident, which occurred 30 minutes into Rangers' 2-1 Group E win, and left the Dutchman needing five stitches in the head.

Could miss Panathinaikos
Ricksen was released from hospital this morning but is not expected to play for three weeks, according to the guidelines for treating head injuries. In this case, the 27-year-old will miss the visit to Panathinaikos FC on 1 October, as well as league matches against Heart of Midlothian FC and Dundee FC.
