Tipster to the rescue

It is time to consider your latest lineup in the UEFA Champions League Fantasy Football game.

World beaters
That is why the Tipster is here to pick out the players who can turn your team from mid-table mediocrities to world-beaters. And after the results from Matchday 1, it is a little clearer who could be the men who will be sending one lucky uefa.com user to Gelsenkirchen next May.

Mean business
Before Matchday 1, there were plenty of uncertainties, but after terrific performances in their opening games, Manchester United FC, Real Madrid CF, Internazionale FC and S.S. Lazio have all left Tipster in no doubt that they mean business this year.

Inter sensation
Inter's 3-0 mauling of Arsenal FC at Highbury was certainly proof that last season's semi-finalists have come out fighting, although their neighbours and holders AC Milan also did their chances of a second consecutive title no harm with a first-day win against AFC Ajax.

Arsenal sale
Before Matchday 1, Tipster had no fewer than four Arsenal players in our first team. Chastened by that opening defeat, we have now changed our minds, using the free transfer each fantasy manager is allowed every matchday to offload Arsenal defender Sol Campbell and bring in Fernando Couto of Lazio.

New Fortune
When radical squad restructuring is required managers have the option of selling to buy. Tipster has picked up United's Quinton Fortune for €5.2m which, after he scored nine points on Matchday 1, could be a steal.

Dynamo scorers
If you are looking for value for money, FC Dynamo Kyiv could be an option. Goalkeeper Olexandr Shovkovskiy is only €4m and scored seven points on Matchday 1. Defenders Serhiy Fedorov, Goran Gavrancic and Andriy Nesmachniy also scored well, but with a game at Inter in prospect, things might be harder for them on Matchday 2.

Cheap options
Other high scorers on Matchday 1 included RC Celta de Vigo's Juanfran and PSV Eindhoven's Wilfred Bouma as well as United's Nicky Butt and Eric Djemba-Djemba. Neither may make it off the bench against VfB Stuttgart, but AS Monaco FC's Edouard Cissé and Rangers FC's Christian Nerlinger are more likely to play. Finally, in attack, at €7m, Dynamo's Diogo Rincón and RC Deportivo La Coruña's Walter Pandiani are good value.

Injured players
Finally, it is worth bearing injuries and suspensions in mind when you make that final selection. Milan striker Filippo Inzaghi and Juventus FC defender Igor Tudor will miss out on Matchday 2 while Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero, Panathinaikos FC striker Emmanuel Olisadebe, Dynamo midfield player Andriy Husin and FC Bayern München defender Willy Sagnol are all facing much longer lay-offs.

Suspensions served
Meanwhile, take note of these suspensions for Matchday 2: Jacob Lekcetho of FC Lokomotiv Moskva, Celta duo José Ignacio Sáenz and Peter Luccin, Milan's Gennaro Gattuso and Club Brugge KV pair Sandy Martens and Andrés Mendoza will all be watching from the sidelines.
