Thompson trouble for Celtic

Celtic FC could be without midfield player Alan Thompson for the Group A visit to RSC Anderlecht.

A major doubt
Thompson limped out of Celtic's 1-0 Scottish Premier League win against Rangers FC at Ibrox on Saturday after only 23 minutes. And after a scan confirmed a strain in his hamstring, the 29-year-old is now a major doubt for the Group A match in Brussels.

Intensive treatment
Thompson is definitely ruled out of Celtic's league game against Heart of Midlothian FC three days earlier and club medics will embark on an intensive course of treatment to get him fit for the Anderlecht tie.

'A real problem'
The Englishman, who scored in his team's narrow 2-1 defeat by FC Bayern München on Matchday 1, said: "It is the kind of injury that you don't mess around with, otherwise you can end up with a real problem."
