César faces fresh lay-off

S.S. Lazio's Brazilian defender César has put his comeback on ice after suffering a new injury to his foot.
S.S. Lazio left-back César will be out of action for about a month after injuring his left foot while playing for the club's youth team yesterday.

'Extremely painful'
The 28-year-old Brazilian, who had just recovered from a problem in the same foot and was expected to make his first appearance of the season against AC Milan on Sunday, broke the fifth metatarsal bone. The defender said: "I dribbled past an opponent but he stamped on my foot. It was extremely painful."

'I was ready to return'
Lazio currently lead UEFA Champions League Group G with four points, and visit Chelsea FC on 22 October. Before that they play Milan in Serie A. César added: "I am really sorry because I was ready to return. Now I will only be able to watch on TV, though I am sure that Lazio will play well both in Milan and in London."
