RSC Anderlecht have agreed a new contract with talented young defender Vincent Kompany.

Youthful maturity
The 17-year-old central defender, who has impressed with his composed and mature displays this season, has agreed a deal that significantly improves the financial terms of his current contract, which expires in 2006. He will sign the new contract when he turns 18 in April next year.

Belgium call-up
Having made his first-team debut in July in a UEFA Champions League second qualifying round tie against AFC Rapid Bucuresti, Kompany has quickly become an important figure in the Anderlecht side and was called up to Belgium's squad for the final UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifier against Estonia.
