Juve advance as Monaco dazzle

Juventus FC became the second team to qualify for the knockout stage as goalscoring records tumbled in Monaco.

Olympiacos win
The last perfect record in the competition may have gone as Juventus drew 0-0 at Real Sociedad de Fútbol, but last season's runners-up are safely into the knockout phase along with Real Madrid CF. Juve are guaranteed to finish in the top two in Group D as Olympiacos CFP defeated Galatasaray SK 3-0 in Athens. Real remain second with seven points, three adrift of Juve but four ahead of the bottom pair.

Four for Pršo
AS Monaco FC produced one of the great Champions League performances as they thrashed RC Deportivo La Coruña 8-3. It was the highest score by a team in a Champions League game and the most goals in a single match, eclipsing Paris Saint-Germain FC's 7-2 victory against Rosenborg BK in October 2000. Dado Pršo scored four of Monaco's goals with Jérôme Rothen, Ludovic Giuly, Jaroslav Plašil and Edouard Cissé also on target.

Lyon beat Bayern
Monaco replace Depor at the Group C summit with PSV Eindhoven only a point behind the Galicians following their 2-0 victory against AEK Athens FC, a success achieved through second-half goals from Wilfred Bouma and Arjen Robben. There are also new leaders in Group A, Giovane Elber scoring the winning goal for Olympique Lyonnais at his former club, FC Bayern München. Roy Makaay had earlier cancelled out Juninho Pernambucano's opener.

Celtic triumph
Lyon have seven points with Celtic FC in second on six in the wake of their 3-1 triumph against RSC Anderlecht. The Scottish side were in outstanding form in an opening 45 minutes in which Henrik Larsson, Liam Miller and Chris Sutton all scored. Aruna Dindane pulled one back for Anderlecht after Magnus Hedman had saved Ivica Mornar's penalty.

Cole fires Arsenal
It looked as though it was going to be as you were in Group B before Ashley Cole headed a late winning goal for Arsenal FC against FC Dynamo Kyiv. The English side now have four points in a pool led by Internazionale FC after their home 1-1 draw against FC Lokomotiv Moskva lifted them to seven points.
