Karembeu speaks

Christian Karembeu answered your questions for our Talk Football Expert Chat.

Good experience
By submitting himself to enquiries from his fans across Europe, Karembeu discussed his career, his activities off the field and his impressions of Greek football. Fresh from his interrogation at the hands of uefa.com users, he concluded: "It was fun. It was a good experience and I hope other players will try it."

Still hope
Following Olympiacos's 3-0 Champions League win against Galatasaray SK, Kofik asked Karembeu for his assessment of the victory - the team's first in the group stage this season. Karembeu replied: "It was a great victory. We deserved it. There was intensity and aggression in a good way. We were all focused on getting this result. We believed in our abilities."

Old clubs
Plenty of supporters from Karembeu's former teams - FC Nantes Atlantique, UC Sampdoria, Real Madrid CF and Middlesbrough FC - were interested in picking the 32-year-old's brains. Karembeu won the French title with Nantes in 1995 and was asked by user Jeanfi for his opinion of a club which has bravely committed itself to homegrown talent.

Praise for Nantes
"I think it's a good example for everybody, in France and in Europe," said Karembeu. "It's one of the best footballing academies in the world. It proved it by producing [Didier] Deschamps, [Claude] Makelele, [Marcel] Desailly and myself."

Madrid memories
He then told Big Duncan he had enjoyed his time in England with Middlesbrough, saying: "It was a great experience for me, even though I only spent a year there." In response to Levic, he explained that he did not miss being at Madrid. "I don't have any regrets, it's my nature," he said. "I live for the present and the future. I had good times there, I have good memories. But now I have another way of life."

Greek assessment
Gpanagak wanted to know whether Karembeu thought AEK Athens FC and FC PAOK could challenge Olympiacos for the Greek title. "They can hope!" Karembeu replied, adding: "We cannot afford to let them beat us, although we know how dangerous they can be."

Free time
uefa.com users were also interested in Karembeu's leisure pursuits. He said to Zizou that he played a number of other games aside from football - "tennis, golf, chess, soccer, cycling". "And when my friends come to my place, we play football for fun," he continued. As for his favourite music, he told Deginge: "I'm quite open-minded. I listen to everything from jazz to house."

Ongoing goals
Finally, Karembeu answered Gagagaga's question about whether he thought he had achieved all his sporting goals: "Not yet. I still have something to do with Olympiacos. Every season I try to set new targets to achieve. I believe that no matter which team you play at, you have to have dreams and try to make them come true."
