Roma feels the strain

AS Monaco FC's Flavio Roma will miss his first Group C game of the season after injuring himself in training.
Goalkeeper Flavio Roma will miss his first UEFA Champions League game of the season on Wednesday, when AS Monaco FC complete their Group C campaign with a match at AEK Athens FC.

Awkward landing
The Italian custodian will be out for at least ten days after straining an ankle when landing awkwardly in training yesterday. Medical staff at Monaco will assess the injury after Roma has rested before deciding whether he can play in the final Ligue 1 game of the year against Stade Rennais FC on 20 December.

Sylva stands by
The 29-year-old Roma has been in outstanding form this season, helping Monaco to the top of both the French league, where they have a six-point lead, and Group C - a section Didier Deschamps's side will win by equalling RC Deportivo La Coruña's result at PSV Eindhoven. Roma will be replaced by Senegal goalkeeper Tony Sylva.
