Alonso accepts Numancia loan

After agreeing a new contract with Real Sociedad de Fútbol, Mikel Alonso has joined CD Numancia on loan.
Mikel Alonso has signed a contract extension with Real Sociedad de Fútbol but will spend the rest of the season on loan at Segunda División leaders CD Numancia.

Limited appearances
The loan will allow the 23-year-old some regular first-team football after making just three appearances for Real this season. However, the San Sebastian club emphasised that Alonso remains in their plans by renewing his contract until 30 June 2006.

'Happy with contract'
"I'm happy with the new contract, it shows that the club have faith in me and have big expectations for me," said the midfield player, brother of Real's Spanish international Xabi Alonso.
