The 28-year-old midfield player, whose previous agreement ran until 2007, will be 35 by the time his new deal expires. He said: "It's still a long way away but let's hope I can be here until the end of my career."
Making his mark
Valerón was accompanied by his brother and agent at a news conference to announce the deal, at which Deportivo president Augusto César Lendoiro praised him as "one of those people who make a mark, as a player, as a professional and especially as a person".
Spanish Cup winner
Born in the Canary Islands, Valerón joined Deportivo from Club Atlético de Madrid in 2000 and was part of their Spanish Cup-winning side in 2002. He has made a total of 29 appearances in the league and UEFA Champions League this season, scoring four goals.
