Chelsea FC left-back Ashley Cole has been ruled out for around three months after fracturing his left ankle.
The 29-year-old England defender was hurt in Wednesday night's Premier League defeat at Everton and Chelsea have now confirmed his absence for potentially the rest of the club season.
Cole's injury is a blow for the London outfit as they approach the away leg of their UEFA Champions League first knockout round tie with FC Internazionale Milano on 24 February.
Michael Essien was already set to miss the tie while Joe Cole, José Bosingwa, Alex, Deco and Juliano Belletti are also currently sidelined.
