Beckham suffers 'disappointing' return

Published: Wednesday 10 March 2010, 23.48CET
David Beckham reflected on a "disappointing night" after his return to Old Trafford with AC Milan ended in a 4-0 defeat by former club Manchester United FC which sent the Red Devils into the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals 7-2 on aggregate. "It's a disappointing night because we lost the game but coming back here is always special, " said the midfielder. "I got an absolutely incredible reception from the United fans, and I have to say thank you." Beckham also lauded his England team-mate Wayne Rooney, who added to his two goals at San Siro with another double in the return. "He's such an exceptional talent, without doubt he's one of the best, if not the best, at the moment along with Messi and [Cristiano] Ronaldo."
