Tactical switch pays off for Lyon

Published: Thursday 11 March 2010, 0.22CET
Claude Puel attributed the 1-1 draw at Real Madrid CF which earned Olympique Lyonnais a place in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals to some half-time tinkering. "It's an achievement, especially considering how the game started, but we produced a great second half and for that we deserved to go through," said the Lyon coach of his team's 2-1 aggregate win. "At half-time we changed the system. Mire [Miralem Pjanić] was positioned behind Lisandro; this made us more fluid. On top of this, he scored. It's just very good."
