FC Barcelona have retained the services of back-up goalkeeper José Pinto until 30 June 2011 after the 34-year-old agreed terms on a one-year contract extension.

Pinto arrived at the Camp Nou on loan from RC Celta de Vigo in January 2008 before making the move permanent the following May. He has acted as Víctor Valdés's stand-in on 18 occasions for the UEFA Champions League semi-finalists, including all nine games in last term's successful Copa del Rey campaign.

Pinto – who won the 2006 Ricardo Zamora Trophy, awarded each season for the Liga's lowest goals per game ratio – said: "I'm really happy. I'm here to do my best and ensure that [Valdés's] position is covered in the best possible manner."
