FC Bayern München skipper Mark van Bommel said "the most effective team" had won the UEFA Champions League after the 2-0 defeat by FC Internazionale Milano in Madrid. Bayern had 66% of possession but it was Inter who took their chances through two Diego Milito strikes. Van Bommel said: "Not the best team won, but the most effective team. Seizing those moments of opportunity is the key. That's not a criticism of Thomas [Müller who spurned two second-half chances], he has scored so many goals this season. But situations like those decide such big matches. We don't score, they do – that was the difference."
