FC Salzburg have signed AZ Alkmaar midfielder David Mendes da Silva on a three-year contract.
The 27-year-old arrives for an undisclosed fee having been a regular at AZ for four seasons which included a Dutch title triumph in 2008/09. Capped seven times by the Netherlands, Mendes da Silva had been named as the No1 transfer target for Salzburg's new Dutch coach Huub Stevens.
The right-sided player previously worked with Stevens' assistant Ton Lokhoff during a spell at NAC Breda. Including coaching staff, there are now six Dutchmen on Salzburg's books.
The Austrian titleholders begin their UEFA Champions League campaign with a home second qualifying round first-leg tie against Faroese side HB Tórshavn on Tuesday.
