FC København have brought midfielder Martin Bergvold back to the club on a free transfer from AS Livorno Calcio, three-and-a-half years after the midfielder left to join the Italian outfit.
Bergvold has signed a three-year contract with the UEFA Champions League play-off contenders, who face Scandinavian rivals Rosenborg BK on 17 and 25 August for a place in the group stage. The left-footed 26-year-old, who scored nine goals in 98 games during his first spell with his hometown team, is expected to fill the gap created by Atiba Hutchinson's departure to PSV Eindhoven.
"We are happy to have succeeded in bringing Bergvold to FC København," said sporting director Carsten V. Jensen. "Martin was a good player when he left us in 2007, and with three more years of experience, particularly in Serie A, we're getting back a more experienced and complete player."
