FC Spartak Moskva have signed twin brothers Dmitri and Kirill Kombarov from FC Dinamo Moskva for an undisclosed fee.

No further details of the double transfer have been released. Dmitri and Kirill have spent their entire careers with Dinamo since making Russian Premier League debuts in November 2005 and September 2006 respectively. Dmitiri is generally deployed on the left of midfield while his brother usually plays on the opposite flank.

"We did not plan to part with the Kombarov brothers," read a Dinamo statement. "But we agreed not to block their move to another team in the event of a good financial and sporting offer. Given the desire of both players, who started their careers in the Spartak youth academy, our board took the hard decision to accept this transfer."

In a joint announcement, the brothers also conceded it had been a wrench to leave: "This was a very difficult decision for us. However, Spartak made us a very serious offer. We want to progress and the UEFA Champions League is a great opportunity to step up a new level – it is a new challenge. We also want to thank the Dinamo fans who always supported us. But it is time for a new phase." Spartak enter the UEFA Champions League group stage having finished second in last season's Russian top flight.
